“More than four months of relentless attacks by land, air and sea have flattened much of the Gaza Strip, continuously pushing its population south. Hundreds of thousands of Gazans, already displaced multiple times from various locations all over the enclave, have been driven to the southernmost point of the Gaza strip.

Over 1,5 million are now crammed into desperately overcrowded shelters in Rafah – a city of less than 200,000 inhabitants at the Egyptian border – which had been the last city untouched by Israeli ground troops.

Netanyahu reiterated on Sunday that the Israeli army will launch a full ground invasion of Rafah soon, without any indication where the displaced could flee in Gaza, vast areas of which have been entirely destroyed.
